With the preparations for CONFINTEA VI underway, ASPBAE has also been playing a catalytical role in incorporating civil society voices in the process leading up to the main event in May 2009. A workshop to chart the civil society route map was also organized last month to strategize on this issue. An Advocacy Action Plan from that workshop is being distilled and put
into motion, and as a demand articulated there and in various other forums, we undertook the preparation of a brief 'CSO Guide for participation in CONFINTEA VI process'. It provides a brief background to CONFINTEA VI, along with key policy demands, advocacy opportunities, proposed actions and useful tools and other resources. We hope that it will be useful in devising concerted and synchronised action at local, national, regional and international levels.
We intend to develop further resources and helpful tools as the preparation for CONFINTEA intensifies over the next few months. We will be regularly in touch with further developments and seeking your inputs and hope that you will do the same.
We will be happy to provide any clarifications and updates that you may seek on the process and you can write to Tanvir Muntasim (
